A few weeks ago, we announced our plans to introduce Public Squads and ops-level adjustments to Arena, starting with a limited EU-only test (refer to our previous Arena Update – Public Squads and Ops Level Ranges post). Here’s a quick recap of what happened, what we learned, and what’s next.

Test Results & Key Takeaways
- Successful Test: The EU test on Wednesday confirmed that Public Squads work as intended in live conditions. General feedback and performance data were positive. In addition, ops-level adjustments to Arena officially went live on February 24’s run of Arena.
- Newly Found Issue: Some players experienced problems with the Public Squad list not refreshing properly. This bug wasn’t evident in our earlier development phase but surfaced in the test—exactly why such limited events are crucial.
Public Squads Rollout
- Fix in Progress: We’re finalizing a fix for the refreshing bug in our next game update.
- Monday, March 3: Public Squads will not be available, as we want to ensure the fix is tested and stable.
- Permanent Return: Public Squads are planned to return fully on March 10, giving us time to implement and validate the fix so you can enjoy a smoother experience.
Match Balance & Ops Levels

- Tighter Ops Windows: Public Squads let us be more consistent with ops-level limits (±4), but we’re continuing to refine how we handle power discrepancies within the same ops range.
- Iterative Improvements: Not all ops-level 40 players, for instance, have the same power. We’re discussing ways to adjust matchmaking so it factors in overall squad effectiveness, rather than pure ops-level alone.
- Faster Adjustments: One of our long term goals is to make it easier for us to fine-tune matchmaking quickly, ensuring the most balanced battles possible.
Squad Communication
- No Immediate Updates: We know better communication tools would enhance the Arena experience—especially for Public Squads. While we have no concrete changes planned yet, we’re actively exploring options for future improvements.
Scheduling
- Current Timetable Stays: Many Commanders have asked about Arena’s day and time. We hear you, but we have no immediate changes to announce. Once we’ve fully stabilized Public Squads and matchmaking, we’ll revisit scheduling.
Keep the Feedback Coming

Your input is vital to refining Arena. We appreciate everyone who participated in the test and shared insights on our Official Discord and community channels. Please keep it up—every report, suggestion, and discussion helps us build a better Star Trek Fleet Command.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support as we roll out these new features. We’re excited for Public Squads to return on March 10—stronger and more stable than ever—and look forward to seeing how you use them to dominate the Arena.
Live Long and Prosper,
The Star Trek Fleet Command Team
