Open Armadas: G7 Armada Evolution

By Obsidian Hamster 18 February 2026

Armadas have always been the ultimate test of Alliance coordination, where Commanders rally together to bring down formidable enemies and claim valuable rewards. Now, with the Veil connecting players across servers, the scale of those threats is expanding.

To meet this new era of cooperation, we’re introducing Open Armadas: massive encounters designed specifically for G7 players. These enemies are too powerful for a single Alliance to handle alone, requiring broader coordination and strategic planning. In return, commanders will earn valuable rewards including FKR Reputation and more.

Before we get into the details, we want to directly address the recent stability and performance issues.

Over the past several weeks, game performance has been a significant issue coming from multiple sources. One of the earliest contributors was an initial memory issue connected to a Python upgrade, but the issues identified were wider. While we have been making ongoing progress to stabilize the situation, we hit a major challenge last week, and an AWS outage also exacerbated some underlying issues.

Where things stand now: the situation is stabilized but not healthy. We still see performance issues in peak times like event reset. We have multiple additional fixes rolling out and more in progress.

  • Events scoring improvements to better support player activity launched on February 17.
  • An infrastructure update is targeted for the coming weeks, once testing is complete.
  • Client improvements are planned for the next major client release, with more improvements continuing through March and beyond.
  • Some larger features and capabilities have been delayed or cancelled to keep focus on stability and performance.
*G5 Scrapping is still on track and underway. More details coming soon.
  • We have tripled the dedicated effort to tackle this work until we are back in a consistently healthy space.
  • We will continue to update the game and bring interesting new ways to play. Some plans have been reduced, but many team members are not the ones who can deliver architectural fixes, so we will continue shipping updates to keep the game exciting while the stability work continues.

Thank you for your patience while we do the work to earn back your confidence. We will be issuing an update later today to all players covering these topics in more detail.

Open Armadas introduce new progression requirements and systems to support this larger scale of combat.

  • Ops 71+ Requirement
  • New Armada Control Center Levels (51–80)
  • New Upgrade Requirements
Upgrading the ACC beyond previous limits will require:
    • Sigma Resources
    • Epic Armada Tactical Cores

Note: We will be sending out a day one gift to Ops 71+ players that will let them upgrade their Armada Control Center to level 51.

Open Armadas are designed as large-scale encounters that bring commanders together across the Veil.

  • Open Armadas range from Level 71 – 81
  • Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Tiers
  • Located Exclusively in the Veil
  • Cross-Alliance Participation
Commanders from different Alliances can join the same Open Armada, enabling broader cooperation beyond traditional Alliance boundaries.
  • Open Armadas last longer than regular armadas (20 seconds vs 5 seconds)
  • Open Armadas have a battle round limitation of 20 rounds. If players are not able to defeat them in 20 rounds, the outcome will be a partial victory

The Open Armada tab can be found within the Alliance Combat screen and serves as the central hub for all active Open Armadas in the Veil. From this interface, commanders can view currently active targets and quickly join ongoing encounters. The list can be filtered by level, rarity, and faction, making it easier to find the right Armada for your ship strength and reward goals.

Open Armadas will drop specific Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Armada Fragments which can be turned into the Open Armada Refinery for valuable rewards including:

  • FKR Faction Reputation
  • ACC Upgrade Materials
  • Building and Repair Sigma Speedups
  • Sigma Parsteel, Sigma Tritanium and Sigma Dilithium
  • Open Armada Directives of the next rarity

As the rarity of the Armada increases, so do the quality and quantity of rewards — giving commanders strong incentives to coordinate and take on higher-tier encounters.

Upgrading the ACC now provides powerful bonuses tailored to Open Armada gameplay:

  • Open Armada Combat Buffs
  • Additional Open Armada Seats
  • Open Armada Directives
  • Epic Armada Tactical Cores

Note: Open Armadas start with 4 open seats but more can be gained by upgrading the Armada Control center.

Open Armadas mark the next evolution of large-scale cooperative combat. By bringing cross-server G7 Commanders together inside the Veil, these encounters raise the stakes and the rewards. Open Armadas are built to test coordination, strategy, and strength at the highest level. Rally your allies the galaxy’s greatest threats will only fall through united force.

Live Long and Prosper,

-The Star Trek Fleet Command Team
