As the game economy continues to evolve, so does the role of the Scrapyard. With Update 90, we’re introducing G5 Scrapping, along with several quality-of-life improvements to better align the system with long-term progression.

The Scrapyard in an Evolving Economy
The Scrapyard has always served two core purposes:
- Free up hangar space for stronger ships
- Return a portion of invested resources
While clearing space remains straightforward, the value of scrapping rewards has grown disproportionately over time. As ships, especially in G4, have become easier and cheaper to build, scrapping returns have not scaled accordingly.
This has led to scrapping becoming a primary progression path, rather than a supporting system. Our goal is to rebalance this so that progression is driven by active gameplay—exploration, events, and player interaction, while scrapping remains a helpful complement.
Dynamic Rewards System
G5 scrapping is designed to be dynamic and scale with your progression.
Final scrapping rewards are based on:
- Your Cost Efficiencies
- The percentage cost of the specific ship
This ensures that rewards remain aligned with your progression level rather than being fixed.
As part of this:
- G5 scrapping timers will be longer than G4
- Rewards have been rebalanced to support the economy without dominating it
Example:
A G6 player scrapping a maxed G5 ship can expect:
- ~20% return of the original G5 investment
- ~2.5% return toward a G6 ship of matching rarity
New Features

FAQ
❓ What G5 ships can be scrapped?
The following ships can now be scrapped:
VOR’CHA, QUV’SOMPEK, ROTARRAN, U.S.S. NORTHCUTT, U.S.S. CROZIER, U.S.S. ENTERPRISE-D, CORVUS, SANCTUS, D’DERIDEX, NOVA, MOW’GA, U.S.S. BEATTY, VRAX
❓ Why was G5 scrapping delayed?
We wanted to ensure the feature launched in a complete and polished state. This included adding supporting improvements like filters, the Demolish feature, and the scrapping Exocomp to enhance usability from day one.
❓ Will scrapping timers be reduced in the future?
Yes. Like G4 scrapping, G5 starts with longer timers to allow room for progression. We plan to introduce future research and systems that will help reduce these timers over time.
❓ Can ships already in the scrapping queue be demolished?
Not at launch. This was a requested feature during testing, and while it’s not included in this update, it may be considered for a future update.
