Greetings, Commanders! Your feedback continues to be the driving force behind Arena Combat improvements and evolutions in Star Trek Fleet Command. We’re excited to announce a series of upcoming changes designed to enhance your gameplay experience. These changes aim to create more balanced matches, smoother gameplay, and better squad coordination—all based on your invaluable insights.
Arena Combat Improvements Coming November 11: Improved Matchmaking for Fairer Battles
What’s Changing?
We’re updating the matchmaking system to provide more balanced and competitive matches by considering players’ Operations Levels more closely.
What You’ll Notice:
- Decreased Ops Level Differences: Squads will now be matched with opponents closer to their average Operations Level.
- Increased Wait Times: While matchmaking may take a bit longer, the result will be fairer and more enjoyable battles.
Example:
- Previous Matchmaking: A squad with Ops Level 49 and Rank 8 might match against opponents ranging from Ops 49 to Ops 70.
- Updated Matchmaking: The same squad will now be matched against opponents ranging from Ops 49 to Ops 55.
This adjustment ensures you’re pitted against players of similar strength, making each match more strategic and thrilling.

Enhanced Gameplay and User Interface Improvements
Reducing Visual Lag
We’ve addressed the visual lag caused by the Kir’Shara’s Artifact during Arena matches.
- Smoother Gameplay: Expect a more seamless experience with reduced lag, allowing you to focus on strategy and combat.
- Simplified UX: Cancelling a queued attack no longer moves your ship unintentionally. Instead, the action will stop the attack while your ship remains in place.
- Updated UI: The “Go” button now displays “Cancel Queueing,” making it clearer and more intuitive.
Chaos Tech Upgrade Screen Update
Based on your feedback, we’ve clarified the Chaos Tech upgrade process.
- Clear Messaging: We’ve removed the “100%” indicator and replaced it with a message reinforcing that Chaos Tech upgrades are always guaranteed. We are aiming to eliminate any confusion about success rates, so you can upgrade with confidence.
Better Squad Coordination with “Ready State” and Enhanced Controls – Coming December 2024
Introducing the “Ready State”
- Know When Your Squad is Ready: A new “Ready State” feature will allow squad leaders to see when all members are prepared to start the next match.
- Improved Coordination: This ensures everyone is on the same page before diving into battle.
Enhanced Squad Management
- Kick Inactive Members: Squad leaders will have the ability to remove inactive members without disbanding the entire squad.
- Why This Helps: Streamlines the process of assembling your team, saving time and reducing frustration.
Exploring Cross-Alliance Squads: Broadening the Battlefield of Arena Combat
We’re excited to share that we’re exploring ways to allow players to join squads with members outside of their alliance.
- What This Means for You: Potentially team up with friends from different alliances, making it easier to form squads and enjoy Arena Combat together.
