Charting Our Course: Upcoming Quality-of-Life Improvements

By Bek 12 May 2025

Over the past several months we have delivered a series of improvements designed to make Star Trek Fleet Command more streamlined, more responsive, and ultimately more enjoyable. Features such as Claim All, Skip Animations, Public Squads, and a revised Daily Goals structure have already removed daily friction for Commanders everywhere. Yet our long‑term roadmap always anticipated deeper changes—particularly in those corners of the game you touch dozens of times a day.

Today’s update offers a detailed look at the next wave of quality‑of‑life (QoL) initiatives. Some of these projects were highlighted in January’s 2025 Roadmap video; others have since graduated from concept to active development. All share a single goal: allow you to spend less time navigating menus and more time exploring, battling, and building your legacy in Star Trek Fleet Command.

To see some of these improvements in development, be sure to check out this video from our GM Conor Crowley, and Sr. Director Paul Simon outlining these QoL updates in more detail.

Refining in Fewer Taps: Bulk Refine

The Refinery is the engine room of your progression, but the repetitive nature of individual bundle conversions could slow even the most dedicated Commander. Bulk Refine addresses that pain point directly. Starting Tuesday, May 13, you will be able to select the number of bundles you wish to convert in each tab and complete the entire process with one confirmation.

The main Refinery screen now displays available refines at a glance, eliminating the need to drill into each category just to check status. The end result is the same valuable ore, gas, and crystal—delivered in a fraction of the time.

Web Store Search Functionality

An expanding catalog of offers makes a robust search function indispensable. The upcoming Web Store update introduces keyword search that recognises complete or partial terms—searching for “lat” will return every pack containing latinum, sorted automatically so the highest‑value bundles surface first. Whether you are hunting for officer shards, four‑star ore, or the best deal on syndicate experience, you will be able to locate it quickly and return to the action without unnecessary scrolling. We expect to see the new Web Store search feature will be available in our next update.

Keeping Core Content Current

Game systems such as the Battle Pass and early‑grade ship loops were originally designed for a very different progression cadence. Over time, things have evolved between their original design and the realities of modern gameplay. We are therefore undertaking a phased refresh:

  • Battle Pass Events will be recalibrated to align reward tiers and difficulty with contemporary account milestones.
  • Independent Archives have already consolidated ten resource loops in six months, and we are committed to adding additional loops in future updates.

These revisions are incremental by design; you will begin to notice more cohesive pacing and updated rewards as each milestone rolls out. More information about some of the changes on the horizon can be found in our coordinating video.

Research at Your Pace: Bulk Research

With hundreds of interconnected nodes, the research trees can feel daunting—especially when a desired upgrade hides behind multiple prerequisite levels. Bulk Research allows you to designate the destination node, automatically queuing and completing every dependency (resources permitting).

This is particularly impactful in the expanded Away Teams Research tree, where entire branches can now advance in a single action, letting you focus on strategic choices rather than administrative clicks.

Evolving Competitive Play: Arena Matchmaking Improvements

Arena remains one of the most popular competitive modes, and matchmaking is its critical backbone. Previous updates adjusted squad size and level banding; the next phase evaluates wait times versus match fairness with new algorithms and server‑side logic. Expect incremental tweaks communicated through patch notes, dev blog interviews, and community channels as we refine the balance between rapid entry and equitable competition.

Accelerating Grades 3 to 5: Command Evolution Directive

Progression through Grades 3 to 5 can be a defining stretch of a Commander’s career. The Command Evolution Directive introduces boosted refinery yields, targeted progression events, and refined incentive structures to keep momentum high without compromising the sense of achievement. Initial components of the directive are live today (some found in this article for G4), with additional pieces slated for deployment throughout the remainder of the year.

One‑Tap Construction: Bulk Upgrade

The first day of a new arc often involves upgrading multiple station buildings in quick succession. Bulk Upgrade is now live in game and simplifies this process: choose any eligible building, select a target level, and—provided you have the resources—the system will execute every intermediate upgrade automatically. Buildings that rely on external prerequisites will continue to respect those dependencies.

Faster Everywhere: Performance & Loading Optimizations

Responsiveness is a hallmark of great gameplay. Our engineering teams are methodically improving asset handling, UI call paths, and shader performance. These adjustments will reduce menu latency and load times across a broad spectrum of devices, ensuring that jumping into a raid or switching systems feels swift and dependable. Our goal is to reduce the amount of time it takes to load into each area of the game so that players can get back to the game.

Looking Ahead: Web Event Calendar

Finally, while still in the conceptual stage, a Web Event Calendar sits on our internal roadmap. The goal is a clear, browser‑based schedule covering everything from arc launches to limited‑time challenges, empowering Commanders to plan gameplay sessions well in advance. We are looking forward to sharing prototypes and timelines as development progresses.

Continuing the Journey Together

Each improvement outlined above is rooted in community feedback—your feedback—and we will continue to rely on those insights as we iterate. Thank you for your passion, your critiques, and your commitment to making Star Trek Fleet Command the best it can be. Keep an eye on our official channels for release notes and further details, and please continue to share your experiences with us.

From everyone at the development team: thank you for charting this course alongside us. We look forward to delivering these enhancements and many more in the months ahead.

Live long and prosper,

-The Star Trek Fleet Command Team
