Commanders,
Many of you have been waiting to return to Incursions. Before we list the matchups, we want to be clear about how pairings are formed, why some servers are on a temporary bye, and why a few pairings may feel different from what you’re used to.
As part of validating live performance against internal testing, we scheduled a focused APAC face-off between Servers 187 and 188 on December 4 so our team could observe in real time and confirm scoring, transfers, and stability since the rollout of regional space tech (The Veil). Those learnings informed today’s approach. Because of that test, Servers 187 and 188 are on a bye for the December 6 Incursions window.
How we form pairings
Our goal is fair, competitive matches that respect your time and investment. Pairings are determined by a weighted set of factors. This isn’t a checklist of every signal we review, but a highlight of some of the factors that most strongly shape pairings. We’re sharing the framework to improve clarity and trust, and we’ll continue to refine the weights as the game evolves.
Primary requirement (highest weight)
- Subregion alignment
- For all fully ascended servers, pairings are chosen within the same subregion
- Ascension grade match
- For servers that are at a lower ascension grade, the grades must match
Secondary factors (meaningful weight, evaluated together)
- Server age and lifecycle stage.
- Active population and engagement by server and by grade.
- Power distribution across levels (avoiding extremes).
- Historical event scoring and recent performance.
- Previous pairings (limiting repeats where possible).
- Concentration of max-level players and outlier clusters.
Application
- We simulate alternatives, review edge cases, and—where no in-subregion opponent meets the minimum requirements—we assign a bye rather than force a mismatched pairing. This means that there may be more servers on bye than we would typically have in a run of Incursions due to not having a more balanced pairing.
About perceived balance
We understand that some matchups may not feel as even as past runs. That is partly due to the added subregion constraint (which narrows the viable pool) and to shifts in population by grade following the recent expansion. Our intent is to keep rules consistent and pairings as fair as possible while we ramp Incursions back up.
Servers placed on a bye will receive the usual Incursions Bye Week support, including the server gift and Incursions Store bundles during the event window.

FAQ
When does Incursions begin?
Incursions will be running on December 6th at 8AM PST/1600 UTC.
Why are some servers on a bye?
Because pairings are limited to subregions and require at least a same-grade opponent, a fair match was not available for every server this round.
How were pairings chosen?
We start with the same ascension grade, then consider the following: server age, active population, power distribution by level, scoring history, and prior matchups.
What do bye servers receive?
The Incursions Bye Week server gift and access to Incursions Store bundles during the event window.
When are the next Incursions?
After reviewing performance and fairness from this run, we will confirm the next date and communicate it 7 days ahead of the next event.
Good luck out there commanders!
