Arena Combat
Introducing Arena Combat
Launching officially on October 14th, the all-new Arena Combat feature brings a matchmade, session-based game mode to Star Trek Fleet Command. Before the official launch, there will be a beta period on October 10th exclusively for APAC players to test out this exciting new feature. This beta is a first for the game, aiming to ensure a fun and positive experience for all players when the Arena opens globally in week 2 of Update 71.
What is Arena Combat?
Formerly introduced as “Instanced PvP” in our 2024 Roadmap, Arena Combat pits teams of five players from all servers within a region against each other in quick, competitive, and objective-based matches. Test your skills and teamwork in a new and thrilling environment designed to bring out the best in strategic play.
How to Participate
The Arena is open one day per week, and will be active for 8 hours. To get started:
- Head to the Alliance Menu.
- Join as a Squad of 5 Alliance members.
- Any Alliance member who is Operations Level 40 or above can create a Squad.
- Once you have a full team of five, the Squad Leader can enter the matchmaking queue.
Matchmaking and Gameplay
- Matchmaking is based on your team’s average Operations levels and Arena Rank.
- You can continue playing the game as usual while waiting for a match.
- Once a match is found, you’ll be automatically pulled into the Arena.
- Similar to Incursions, you’ll see a loading screen as your Station and Ships are relocated to a new, instanced game world.
- Teams are placed in their own home systems and will have a “warm-up period” before the match begins.
- During the match:
- Warp into the Arena System through a one-way path.
- Players can have two ships active at once and are free to swap out ships and officer crews.
- All repairs are free during the match, though you can only repair one ship at a time.
- Ships are automatically repaired when you enter and exit the Arena.
Victory Conditions
- Each team aims to earn a set amount of Victory Points needed to win in Arena Combat.
- If no team reaches the set Victory Point amount, the team with the most points after 10 minutes wins.
The Vindicator
Overview of the Vindicator Ship
Update 71 introduces The Vindicator, a new tank-like Battleship available to players of Operations Level 40 and above. This ship uses extra-dimensional interference to overload enemy sensors, drawing attention and making it the primary target. It’s designed not only to absorb damage from armadas but also to return it with a vengeance.
Abilities and Upgrades
Active Ability: Taunt
At the start of combat, opponent Armadas will target The Vindicator for 20 rounds.
Upgrading the ship increases Taunt duration and reduces Taunt cooldown.
Passive Ability: Unfettered Revenge
Increases Weapon Damage by X% for 5 rounds each time you are hit by an Armada (cumulative).
Note: Weapons with multiple shots will only trigger this ability once per attack.
The Vindicator has 18 tiers and offers great rewards, such as:
- Vindicator Ship Parts and Research Currency
- Fleet Commander unlock shards for all FCs, including Lorca
- Fleet Commander Sloan and Fleet Commander Lorca Skill Points
- Fleet Commander Credits in All 3 Rarities
- Officers
- Temporal Disruptors
- Armada Countdown Speed Up Tokens
Rewards and Research
- Rewards can be claimed using Spacework Circuits, which are earned through weekly events.
- Located at the end of the Starship Tree, there are 14 new nodes specifically for upgrading the Vindicator.
- Utilize Interdimensional Data to make this new tank ship a force to be reckoned with.

New Update 71 Missions
Update 71 continues the Symbiosis story with 10 core missions and 10 side missions, introducing both Arena Combat and the new Vindicator Ship.
Core Missions: Symbiosis Parts 3 and 4 (10 Missions | Level 38)
Their adversary revealed, Masriad and her crew—with the help of the Commander—must battle across the dimensions of the multiverse to prevent Gabriel Lorca from instigating the Symbiosis Event that will cause all universes to collide. Their best chance is to find a mythical device called The Reality Buffer, the components of which have been spread across different universes. It’s just the kind of mission that calls for the skills of a group of cunning treasure hunters.
Side Missions: New Ship Intro (5 Missions | Level 40)
A fledgling start-up, Aether Spaceworks, has designed a groundbreaking starship. The only thing they need now is the funding to make their designs a reality. They enlist the help of the Independent to protect them as they go to the Galactic Innovation Expo to pitch their idea. However, the night before the pitch, their designs are stolen. The player must help Aether Spaceworks find the culprit and retrieve the stolen designs.
Side Missions: Arena Intro (5 Missions | Level 40)
The player is approached by a Terran (the store vendor) who has a business proposition. After Empress Kira’s fall from grace, her Terran Champion tournaments are no longer being held. The vendor wants to restart the tournaments and needs the Commander’s help as the reigning Champion. They face some local opposition but manage to get everything up and running, with Independents the galaxy over signing up for these gladiatorial games. The Terrans turn up in droves to enjoy the blood sport. Everything seems to be going according to plan when the disgraced Empress herself turns up. She is none too happy to see someone else making a profit on her idea…
Update 71 Battle Pass and Cosmetics
A new Battle Pass is available this month, and players will have the opportunity to earn several new cosmetics, including both new avatars and frames. Make sure to keep an eye on our event schedule to stay in the loop!
