Introduction to Starfleet Academy: Remote Campus
The Remote Campus is a new Station Building available to Commanders at Operations 61 and above. It plays an important role in the Academy loop by strengthening your ships against Academy Training Drones and supporting progression across Academy Space and Duo Wave Defense.
As your Remote Campus increases in level, it unlocks additional benefits and improves your performance against Academy Drone hostiles.

Training Drone Critical Mitigation

- This bonus provides Critical Mitigation against Academy Drone and Academy Combat Hostiles found in Academy Space and Duo Wave Defense. Higher values improve your performance against these hostiles. Reaching Remote Campus Level 30 is recommended for Commanders looking to engage level 61 Academy hostiles more effectively.

Understanding Academy Drone Hostiles
As seen in game, Academy Training Drones drop Training Merits, which can be exchanged for Engineering Credits. Survey-type Academy Training Drones drop double Training Merits.
All Academy Training Drones are immune to the GS-31’s Gravitational Blast and feature the Critical Training hostile ability, which grants the following effects at the start of combat:
- +1,000% Critical Hit Chance
- +5,000% Critical Hit Damage
- +5,000% Critical Damage Floor
- Academy Training Drones also feature ship-type-specific hostile abilities:
- Interceptors gain Apex Offense, increasing Apex Shred by 50% at combat start.
- Battleships gain Apex Defense, increasing Apex Barrier by 10,000 at combat start.
- Explorers gain Isolytic Simulator, making them immune to all non-Isolytic Damage.
- Survey variants gain Critical Defense, increasing Critical Mitigation by 100,000 at combat start.
How Critical Mitigation Works
With Academy Drones heavily focused on critical-based combat effects, Critical Mitigation becomes a key stat for surviving these encounters.
Critical Mitigation reduces true critical damage taken after all other bonuses are applied. Every 500 Critical Mitigation reduces incoming critical damage by 1%.
For example, if a level 71 Academy hostile deals 754,443,565,600 critical damage, a Critical Mitigation value of 83,000 would reduce that damage by 62.41%. That would mitigate 470,818,164,998 damage, reducing the final damage taken to 283,625,400,601.

Increasing your Remote Campus level allows you to defeat more of the Academy Drone hostiles in both Academy Space and Duo Wave Defense.
Because Commanders receive 2 Academy Field Passes per day to travel to Academy systems, improving your Critical Mitigation can help you make each trip more efficient by enabling you to defeat more Academy Drones in a single run.
This also supports higher-value exchanges in the Training Merit to Engineering Credits loop, including 2 Chest and 3 Chest pulls. The same principal applies in Duo Wave Defense, where higher Critical Mitigation can help you defeat more Academy Training and Combat drones and progress to later waves.
The Remote Campus opens the door toAcademy Space and the Academy Drone challenges tied to it, while also providing access to rewards such as Sigma Resources, Sigma Materials, new Officers and Officer Laurels.
