Commanders, DS9: Retribution delivers a nasty one-two for PvP and station combat. The Hierarch is a true plug-and-play PvP captain who outperforms prior generalists like Carol Freeman, while Nog takes the crown as the premier base-cracking captain—yes, surpassing his father. Used together, they pressure early rounds, blanket opponents with states, and suffocate enemy crits so your volleys land clean.
Who is the Hierarch?

Born from the Kis’yhn rebellion against the Collective, the Hierarch leads the Node with cold precision and psionic force. In STFC, she translates into a universal PvP captain: simple trigger, massive payoff, and easy to fit on almost any bridge.
The Hierarch’s Kit
Captain Maneuver
Increases your ship’s shots by up to 200% for 2 rounds at round start against players if the opponent has any state (Hull Breach, Burning, Assimilate, etc.).

- Delivers immediate tempo—more shots when it matters most.
- Outpaces Carol Freeman as a generalist PvP captain; bring any state and she just works.
- Encourages experimentation: try different duos to see what spikes hardest with your roster.
- Tip: pair with T’ana and FC Khan to reliably blanket the enemy with states and feed her trigger.
Officer Ability
At max rank, 100% chance each round start against players to apply Hull Breach, Burning, or Assimilate for 2 rounds.
- Keeps the “any state” condition rolling so her captain buff stays online.
- Turns on teammates who need states (isokits, crit-denial packages, etc.).
- Pairs beautifully with Nog’s crit suppression (see below).
Who is Nog?

As the son of Rom and nephew of Quark, Nog has his father’s hands and his uncle’s tenacity. Desperate for a chance to prove himself, Nog made history as the first Ferengi in Starfleet! Serving with distinction in the Dominion War, his is a story that is remembered for generations to come. In STFC, Nog uses the skills inherited from his father and the tenacity of his uncle with his Captain Maneuver, surpassing him as the premier Station-cracking captain! Never one to be underestimated, his Officer Ability, prevents his opponents from taking advantage of him by shutting down their critical hits.
Nog’s Kit
Captain Maneuver – Inherent Tenacity
On station attacks, grants +20,000 Apex Barrier for 2 rounds at round start.

- Early staying power that keeps your volley plan intact. On the second and all subsequent rounds, your defense is fully active.
- Enables aggressive openings against defender ships and platforms alike.
- Clear upgrade path for commanders pushing into tougher bases.
- Like his father Rom, Nog’s Captain Maneuver does not gain synergy bonuses from any officers!
Officer Ability – Defiance
On round start against players, reduces enemy Critical Hit Chance by 20%/35%/50%/60%/70% for 2 rounds if the opponent has any state.
- Next to the Hierarch (who applies states), this can practically blank enemy crits in the opening exchanges.
- A direct answer to crit-forward openers and popular Carol Freeman builds.
- Function is similar to Pon from the Explorer Strike Crew, except he works on any ship.
- Use with VIL Dukat and Kira Nerys below decks to thoroughly protect yourself against critical hits.
Use Cases and Crew Recommendations
Use Cases
- General PvP (Plug-and-Play): Slot the Hierarch (C) and watch your opening pressure spike. She’s forgiving on comps—if you can apply a state, either with her or someone else, the shots will multiply.
- Base Raiding, Safer Pushes: Put Nog (C) on siege crews for early Apex Barrier and consistency through the first two rounds. Works fantastically alongside his father Rom and VIL Winn Adami!
- Crit Denial vs. Meta Crews: Run Hierarch + Nog to apply states and shred enemy crit windows, hard-countering staple Carol Freeman lines.
Recommended Crews
State Flood PvP (Bridge Offense):Hierarch (C) – T’ana – HG Worf (with FC Khan)
- Hierarch multiplies your shots; T’ana and FC Khan help to cover the enemy with combat states to keep her captain trigger live. Will trigger a wide variety of lower deck abilities with this setup, though it may be a bit random!
Station Alpha-Strike (Bridge Offense):Nog (C) – Rom – VIL Winn Adami
- Nog’s Apex Barrier buys time while Rom amplifies the shots and VIL Winn Adami lets those shots go through defender shields. Best used with VIL Dukat and Kira Nerys below decks, as this setup does not trigger Nog’s Officer Ability
Hybrid Siege / Crit Lock:Nog (C) – Hierarch – Rom
- Nog’s barrier stabilizes, Hierarch supplies states to enable Nog’s crit cut, and Rom amplifies station damage flow. This setup works best when you are fighting a particularly difficult base and need to maximize your protection.
Whether you’re hunting players in open space or pushing into fortified citadels, the Status Control Team delivers immediate, tangible gains. The Hierarch gives you the shots; Nog gives you the staying power and crit denial. Mix, match, and make the quadrant bend.
