This is the first in a series of blogs providing direct insights from our game developers. Today, you’ll hear from D, a Senior Product Manager actively involved in overseeing content for the current Wrath of Khan arc in Star Trek Fleet Command.
Hey peeps, D here, and today I’m excited to share some information about a new event series!

Why Officers Matter
Officers are game-changing. They drastically impact performance in both PVP and PVE encounters.

With Wrath of Khan, getting your hands on Officers has never been easier. Between Priority 1 Away Teams, the Officer Cost Efficiency nodes and Officer Unlocks in the Away Teams Research Tree, and Officer Chests in the Augment Faction Store, we have drastically reworked the way we source them.
We’re building on top of that with Khan’s Challengers and Officer Depot. It’s something we’ve not attempted in STFC yet, but we’re excited to showcase and expand upon. For now, consider these events as a one-time occurrence.
Khan’s Challengers Overview
Targeted at Operations 40 and higher, Khan’s Challengers (releasing May 17) are unique events exclusively oriented around using specific officers against various challenges. Events include:

- Main Meta SMS
- Hostile and Armada Hunt SMS
- Officer Shard Acquisition SMS
- Officer Depot SLB
Event Interaction
Here’s how you’ll interact with the events:
- Events require you to use 3 Bridge Officers and 3 Below Decks Officers to defeat targets such as hostiles or armadas.
- Each officer scores points upon defeating the required target; using more officers from the specified group grants more points.
- Rank 5 Officers significantly increase your scoring potential (10x or more).
- Side SMS events support Officer Shard Acquisition.
- Completing these events progresses you in the Khan’s Challengers Meta.
Side Note: Without these Officers, you cannot fully progress. However, even using fewer targeted Officers (1-5) will still earn points for those Officers.
Rewards
- Completing the main Meta SMS provides a significant amount of Officer Depot Tokens and 35 shards of the new Apex Pusar Projectile (10% Apex Shred against Non-Armada Hostiles).
- Events directly reward Khan’s Challenger Tokens, exclusive to these events.
