Game Performance Update: Station Resource Change

By Bek 28 March 2025

At Star Trek Fleet Command, transparency remains one of our core values. From improving Arena stability to the Independent Archives and beyond, we’re committed to keeping you informed about every step we take to enhance gameplay and address stability. Today, we’re pleased to share another targeted improvement that, while small, plays an important role in reducing unnecessary system load and improving overall performance.

In the past, you may have noticed that once you fully emptied a station during a raid, it would still yield a tiny trickle of resources if you attacked again. Those small amounts came from the station’s generators continuing to produce resources. Moving forward, once a station has been fully drained of resources, further hits won’t generate anything at all—the station will remain empty until it recovers or repairs naturally over time.

While this adjustment may seem minor, it should reduce server load, improve stability, and ultimately help lower instances of lag during high-traffic raids.

We conducted an internal review comparing game performance a week before and a week after this update. We specifically measured cases where station battles lasted five seconds or more—often a sign that the game’s battle processor was being bogged down by repeated “resource snapshots” from station generators. Here’s what we found:

  • Fewer Prolonged Battles: Battles taking five seconds or longer were reduced by about 38% after removing the trickle of generator resources.
  • Streamlined Raiding: When we broadened our scope to battles three seconds or longer, we observed a 43% reduction.
  • No Visible Change: The tiny resource drops we removed weren’t meaningfully impacting raiders’ overall gains, so this change doesn’t reduce raid rewards–it simply cuts back on extra calculations behind the scenes.

We expect this improvement to be even more beneficial during high-intensity events like Infinite Incursions, where simultaneous raids can spike server load.

  • Raiding Mechanics: The core mechanics of station raiding remain exactly the same. You can still attack stations to plunder resources just as before.
  • Gameplay Impact: Aside from eliminating those negligible resource drops, there’s no direct impact on your raiding tactics or overall gameplay.

We know that even a small inefficiency can create bottlenecks when tens of thousands of Commanders are online simultaneously. By removing these minuscule resource drops from “drained” stations, we free up server resources to handle more critical tasks, maintain smoother performance, and continue on our quest for a more lag-free experience.

Updates like these–behind-the-scenes optimizations–aim to create a more stable, enjoyable experience for all Commanders. We may not always see dramatic changes on the surface, but each improvement is a building block toward a better game.

We value your input on every update, big or small. If you have questions, encounter issues, or simply want to discuss the latest changes, please head over to our Official Discord server or community forums. Your constructive feedback and ongoing support help us fine-tune these changes and prioritize what comes next.

We remain dedicated to continuous iteration—tackling known performance issues, refining gameplay, and ensuring Star Trek Fleet Command evolves in ways that benefit Commanders at every level.
