Patch Notes: Update 94 – Cause and Effect

By Obsidian Hamster 20 August 2026

“What can I say? ‘Unusual’ just happens to be my name. Well, actually, my name is Trelane, but there’ll be time for introductions later. In the meantime, I’d put up those dukes, Commander.”

Trelane has unleashed chaos across the galaxy after meddling with forces far beyond even his understanding. What began as an attempt to explore the time vortex has shattered history itself, causing pivotal moments across countless timelines to unravel. As reality fractures, entire events, and the memories of them, begin to disappear from existence.

Guided by Maia, the Temporal Cartographer, you’ll journey through time to restore the true timeline before it’s lost forever. Every mission brings you closer to repairing the damage and preserving the future of the galaxy.

But Trelane’s interference is only the first crack in time… and something far older has begun to awaken.

What’s in Update 94

  • New Battle Pass Updates
  • New Bulk Research
  • New Officers
  • New Artifacts
  • New Galactic Anomalies
  • New Missions
  • And More!

Content Creator Lewb discusses Bulk Research, new Artifacts, and more arriving with Update 94! Watch the video here.

Improvements and Updates

Bulk Research makes it faster to progress through Research Trees by allowing you to select a node even if its prerequisite research hasn’t been completed.

When you select a node further down the tree, Bulk Research will include the required prerequisite nodes and complete them together, removing the need to research each one individually.

Some requirements will still need to be met before research can begin, including Building levels, Ships, and Faction Rep. Prerequisite nodes that use a different timer type from the selected node also cannot be included in Bulk Research and must be completed separately.

Cause & Effect Battle Pass

Update 94 gives Commanders more control over their Battle Pass progression with new Choice Tokens and Exchanges for Artifacts, Starships, Ship Parts, Materials, and Resources.

  • Artifact Choice: Ops 51+ can earn Choice Tokens toward six new Rare and Epic Artifacts, with opportunities to unlock an Artifact through the Free Track and Arc Events or Elite Battle Pass.
  • Starship Choice: Ops 20+ can exchange tokens for eligible Starship Blueprints and Upgrade Parts, with options tailored to Operations level.
  • Supply Choice: Ops 40+ New FKR Ship Part Choice Tokens let players select the Uncommon and Rare Ship Parts that best fit their progression.
  • 20 Milestones Return: The Battle Pass returns to its previous 20-milestone structure, consolidating rewards into fewer, more substantial milestones.
  • Free Rare Officer: Complete the Free Battle Pass Track to fully unlock WOK Leonard McCoy.
  • Elite Epic Officers: Elite Battle Pass players can unlock Winn Adami, WOK Carol Marcus, or The Doctor based on their Ops level.
  • More Progression Resources: Expanded Ascension Particles and Specialty Building Upgrade Materials provide additional support across more Ops levels.

With nearly limitless abilities and the curiosity of a child, the question remains: what will Trelane become when experience finally catches up with his power?

Missions

Protocol Origin: Prologue

After responding to a mysterious distress call, the Commander and Maia encounter Trelane, whose interference with the time vortex has corrupted five distinct timelines and threatens to destabilize history itself. With Protocol Origin activated, the Commander must travel through each fractured timeline and ensure pivotal events unfold as intended, without anyone discovering their interference.

Protocol Origin: Archer
Parts 1-5
Maia detects a fluctuation in the timeline and discovers that things in the present are not as they should be. Vulcan is isolationist and militaristic, and the Federation is a shadow of its former self. She identifies the origin: Vulcan’s Forge. Maia brings us back in time to fix whatever has gone wrong.

Protocol Origin: Kirk
Parts 15
Trelane remarks that he is unable to tell why the timeline is still broken. Somehow the Klingon Empire dominates the Alpha Quadrant, despite historical records showing that the actions of James T. Kirk have prevented this from happening on numerous occasions.

Protocol Origin: Picard
Parts 1-5
The Commander enters a fractured late-2360s timeline where Picard is gone, Geordi commands the Enterprise-D, and Riker was never assigned to the ship. After investigating the altered history, the Commander traces the disruption back to Riker’s earliest pivotal moment aboard the USS Pegasus.

Protocol Origin: Sisko
Parts 1-5
The Commander enters another fractured timeline where an assassination attempt threatens Captain Sisko and the future of the Federation’s resistance against the Dominion. To preserve history and ensure the Dominion War unfolds as intended, the Commander must stop the assassination and return Sisko safely to Deep Space Nine.

Protocol Origin: Janeway
Parts 1-5
The Commander investigates the Federation Fleet Museum and discovers that Voyager never returned home, leaving Janeway and her crew missing and the Federation drastically changed. After uncovering evidence at Memory Alpha, Maia realizes that a pivotal event in Voyager’s history never occurred—and may be the key to restoring the timeline
